Once you have identified your next job target, including a job title, location and industry, you need to create your brand. Just like a company has a brand, your personal brand must reflect your accomplishments, skills and personal characteristics.
Your brand must be consistent across all media and correspondence, including your cover letter, resume, LinkedIn profile and follow up.

Highlight your accomplishments and key transferable skills such as planning, writing, organizing, analyzing,.  Highlight your key personal characteristics such as creative thinking, problem solving, interpersonal skills, collaboration.

If you are switching industries make sure you highlight the the job TITLE if the company is not relevant.  Make sure to highlight the COMPANY if it is well known and your job title is less relevant.

Don’t be afraid to repeat your key accomplishments and skills at the top and under the jobs of your resume. Repeat these as well as in the headline, summary, and job descriptions in your LinkedIn profile.  The more times you use key words the higher up you will be on a search.  Hiring managers and search firms are all using LinkedIn to find potential candidates.
